01 · Purpose
Find page images that may look soft because they are stretched
A web page can display an image larger than the image file's native pixel dimensions. That does not prove the source is blurred, but it is a useful signal that the browser may be enlarging too little source detail. The Sharpniq Image Clarity Checker reviews that relationship on visible images in the active tab and can outline likely stretched images for inspection.
2. Choose a threshold and run the check
The threshold controls how far an image must be displayed above its native dimensions before it is highlighted.
3. Review or clear the outlines
The popup reports aggregate checked and highlighted counts. Temporary page outlines can be removed from the same control.
02 · Measurement
Rendered size compared with intrinsic size
The checker compares each visible image's rendered dimensions with its intrinsic dimensions. Rendered size is the space the page gives the image. Intrinsic size is the image file's natural pixel size reported by the browser. If the rendered dimensions exceed the configured ratio, the extension marks the image as a review candidate.
A diagnostic signal, not a quality score
Dimension mismatch can explain visible softness, but it does not measure focus, motion blur, compression, artistic intent, or the actual image pixels.
Visible images only
The check is limited to visible image elements available in the current page at the time the user runs it.
Temporary highlighting
Outlines are a local visual aid on the current page and are removed when the user clears them or the page state changes.
03 · Privacy
Local processing for the requested check
The Chrome Web Store lists website content as processed because the check reads dimensions of visible image elements in the current tab. The extension uses activeTab for temporary access after user action and scripting to compare dimensions and manage outlines. Processing stays in the current tab; page URLs, website content, image data, browsing history, and personal information are not collected, stored, sold, or transmitted.
No pixel inspection
The checker reads browser-reported dimensions. It does not read, analyze, upload, or transform image pixels.
No collection or transmission
The extension returns only aggregate checked and highlighted counts to its popup and does not retain the results.
No hidden processing
The check starts only after a user action and does not run automatically in the background.
04 · Limits
The checker identifies a layout condition; it does not repair images
The extension does not unblur photos, replace page assets, download private images, reveal restricted content, or decide whether an image is objectively good or bad. A highlighted image may be intentionally enlarged or may already use browser scaling techniques. Treat each outline as a prompt to inspect the source, CSS, responsive image setup, or original file.
No automatic replacement
The extension never edits the website source, uploads a replacement, or publishes a changed image.
No restricted-content access
It is not designed to reveal censored, private, paywalled, or otherwise unauthorized content.
No guarantee of blur diagnosis
A dimension ratio cannot detect every reason an image looks blurry and should not be presented as an image-quality benchmark.

Use the source file first, then choose the right repair path
If you control the web page, the strongest fix is usually to serve a source image large enough for its rendered size and configure responsive delivery correctly. For website owners
Check the source dimensions, srcset and sizes behavior, CSS layout, device-pixel ratio needs, and whether a higher-resolution licensed source exists.

Does a highlighted image mean the image is definitely blurry?
No. A highlight means the visible image is displayed beyond the configured native-size ratio. Focus, motion blur, compression, responsive delivery, and artistic intent require separate review.
Can the extension fix a highlighted image automatically?
